This
high performance exhaust system features stainless steel or titanium
headers, billet aluminum flanges and a titanium silencer with tapered
conical outlet. O2 Bung and Bung Plug is provided for use with the Yamaha O2
Sensor.
Features of the Tapered Conical Silencer
1. Titanium inlet is deep drawn over a precision die
which allows for a very compact silencer design.
2. "Ever-Last" Packing (patent pending): The packing
material is made up of several continuous
strands of fiber rather than short chopped sections of fiber. Each
continuous strand of fiber is
several hundred feet long thus preventing it from being blown out of the
silencer by the exhaust
pulse. As such, a stainless wool or stainless steel mesh to hold the packing
back does not
have to be used. By removing this barrier the packing can do a better job of
absorbing the
exhaust pulses.
3. Packing Divider Plate (patent pending): Exhaust
pulses tend to push the packing toward the exit
of the silencer reducing performance and increases the harshness of the
exhaust note. The
packing divider plate ensures the "Ever-Last" packing material stays put in
the first third of the
silencer where it is needed the most.
4. Tapered Core: The tapered cores are altered in size
and taper length for each motorcycle.
By doing so the performance of the exhaust system on each motorcycle is
maximized.
The
2008 "Works" Full Exhaust System for the 2008 Yamaha R6 includes an added
crossover head pipe feature along with a more aggressive head pipe taper.
These features allow for an increased throttle response and low to mid range
power delivery without affecting the peak power output.
